• May 2023, Senator Barrasso (ranking member of the Senate committee that governs DOE) wrote to Sec. Granholm urging her to ban ChatGPT and third-party AI tools at DOE.

• July 2023, DOE responded to Sen. Barrasso saying they're not going to do that, but will write a user guide.

• October 2023, the White House issues and executive order on AI.

• Dec 2023, DOE says it is updating the user guide to align with the White House executive order on AI.

February, EERE published brief guidelines for AI use, though I haven't seen anything DOE-wide. (If anyone sees a detailed user guide, let me know!)
