About the ALS:
The Advanced Light Source (ALS) is a science user facility, operated by the U.S. Department of Energy and hosted at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. It features about 40 beamlines operating in the soft x-ray regime (100 eV-2000 eV; corresponding to wavelength between 1 and 10 nanometers), serving over 2,000 users annually who seek to take advantage of the high resolution and elemental sensitivity of the x-ray beam.
