You can now control your beamline using a chatbox, do align your sample, collect spectroscopy data or do basically whatever you wanted to do and didn't dare to ask, borrowing the Osprey Agentic AI framework borrowed from the accelerator side (Berkeley Lab ATAP Division)We used the ALS R&D beamline 5.3.1 where we deployed the bluesky data collection suite, what makes the deployment scalable to virtually every other beamlines at the ALS and beyond.
Quite interesting to see the paper come out at the very moment Anthropic announced its Model Hardware Standard– quite similar in spirit to bluesky, something the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science light sources have been cooking for a while – to synchronize the controls of all the synchrotrons, a godsend feature in the era of AI.
